The cheap shot not talked about

Before I start about the main subject of this blog, I do agree that what Kostopoulos did was dirty and was Andrei Kostitsyn do to Luke Schenn was dangerous, however I am shocked that no one talked about the Grabovski butt-end on Carey Price.

I am fuming at this, Mikhail Grabovski ran his mouth all night, started diving at one point and got a little chat with Saku Koivu about it. At one point in the game, the little #84 Belarusian forward of the Toronto Maple Leafs takes his stick and stabs Carey Price with it. No call was made, no review from the league what so ever. That kind of play is a 5 minutes penalty and a game misconduct according to the NHL Rulebook and the NHL botched it, they were too occupied looking at the Kostopoulos play, which I understand. The Canadiens should, however, show the clip to the league so they can judge on the incident, that play shouldn’t be part of the league and if the NHL truly condones those acts instead of the result, Grabovski should at the very least get a fine. It absolutely disgusts me that a player like that would do such a thing and not held accountable for.

If the league doesn’t do anything about it, you could bet the Montreal Canadiens players will take care of it on January 8th in Montreal.

Tip to Mikhail Grabovski for January 8th: Keep your head up

I agree completely Harry. The butt end was gutless, and I would have supported a suspension.

No more dirty than the hit from behind on Hagman, the slew foot on Schenn, or the trip on Schenn.

I absolutely DO NOT condone what Grabovski did, but the Canadiens are the last team to gripe about dirty plays going unpunished.

I totally agree the league should be shown the Grabovski butt end, and he should be fined for it. I am happy that Kostopoulos got his suspension. Though I would have liked to see more than 3 games. These dirty plays are sending a bad message out to the world about our game and the NHL needs to recognize this.

First the hit on Hagman was pretty dirty, a butt end? Really, a team that had what Lapierre do dirty crap to Sid and get away with it are whining about this? Stfu.

Kostopolous should have received 10 games for something like that, yeah the league wants to stop hits from behind but 3 games? Yeah he’s a first offender but that really doesn’t send much of a message. The Leafs lose Van Ryn for 6 weeks or more and the Habs lose their player for 3 games, anyone else not see a problem with that?

I hope the leafs take it to the habs hard and pay them back with another loss to a team they “shouldn’t be losing to” with Schenn finally showing people why he is the human eraser, Schenn a bunch of the a-holes on the habs.

They were wrong about Grabovski, kid’s got talent.
